| TUTORIAL 5 - Opencanvas: painting | |
![]() On the last image you can see the different layers and their oppacity | |
| STEP 1 | |
![]() | Original image by Inkthinker Active layers ---> A |
| STEP 2 | |
![]() | Added shadows using gray tones (I use some grayed tone, not pure gray). I define the light and main shadows this way... find it easier to stick to one single color to define values. Also add textures to the costume, metal and hair. Active layers ---> A+B |
| STEP 3 | |
![]() | I turned off the gray layer and started coloring the figure. Just used flat tones. Painted a simple background. Active layers ---> A+C |
| STEP 4 | |
![]() | Turned on the gray layer. The shadows will adapt perfectly to the flat colors. Will add the lights next . Active layers ---> A+B+C |
| STEP 5 | |
![]() | Added light using a new layer. When there are metallic parts in the picture I usually reserve a special layer for the hard light . Active layers ---> A+B+C+D |
| STEP 6 | |
![]() | Painted the hard lights on a new layer using light yellow over the hair and metallic parts. Active layers ---> A+B+C+D+E |
| STEP 7 | |
![]() | Flattened the image and stated to blend the diffent colors and to paint over the lineart when neccesary Active layers ---> F |
| STEP 8 | |
![]() | The second light source is added using an orange tone. Painted them in a different layer Active layers ---> F+G |
| STEP 9 | |
![]() | The metal blue tone is painted using light blue on a new layer, add mode. Active layers ---> F+G+H |
| STEP 10 | |
![]() | Added a substract layer, filled with white to darken the image and started painting using black to make lights pop more. This layer also adds more contrast to the image and makes it look more saturated. Active layers ---> F+G+H+I Hope it's usefull. |
